The show is this weekend!

Love & Fairy Tales is coming your way May 1, 2 & 3. 8p performances Friday and Saturday and a 3pm matinee on Sunday. Shows are in the Kimball Street Theatre, located in the Rider Center @ Elgin Academy.

The show is coming together wonderfully, with a few hiccups during the dress rehearsals, of course. All of which should be ironed out now.

Tickets are still available for all performances, so we hope that you will join us for a fabulous night of fun and delight.

Glock…enspiel

We have eine glockenspiel!  And a Thunder tube…aka really awesome way to make the thunder sounds without using a canned sound effect.

And I have all the base materials I should need for making my totally awesome mouth padlock.  Protracter, check. Empty GameboyDS box, check. Silver/grey fabric, check.  Pacifier, check.  Assuming I still have epoxy at home, I will make it tonight.  If I do not have epoxy, perhaps I have another suitable glue, perhaps of the gorilla variety, and then I get to rock the padlock.  Perhaps I should listen to Jailhouse rock for inspiration?

We also have a flautist to play the flute solo sections.  Remarkable how things come together.

Costumes should come together soon, I haven’t gotten to see things yet as it was raining all day and satin dresses were on the top of the pile in the trunk of our awesome costumers car.  So now hopefully the Papageno/Papagena costumes will go visit her (currently in my trunk- I got a car btw, a shiny 06 corolla)

We are ever so busy but ever so happy!

Excitingly we are working with our marketing consultant Suzanne to develop a really truly marketing plan and develop a long range planning for the organization.  It is a little bit of a labor pain for all of us, but incredibly exciting, and will bring many opportunities to the forefront.

Pan pipes

Have you ever tried looking for a pan pipe in the right key with only the correct 5 notes for Papageno to play?  Neither have I until today.  All I have to say is thank goodness the Glockenspiel does not have to be as precise.

Fledermaus rehearsal tonight and thurs, Magic Flute Fri & Sat, Fledermaus again Sunday and then we are in tech.  Whew!  I’m exhausted just thinking about it

Staging this week

Tickets are already selling quite nicely for the May program.

Personally I have felt a little nuts this week, as I am attempting to replace my car (which gave up on life last week) while managing all the prep for the show.  Needless to say it has reminded me of why I am not fond of car shopping!  The delights of the show nicely offset that annoyance!

We are staging this week!  We modified the theatre setup to a nice thrust stage option that should be well suited for our pieces.  It will be some time before we rehearse in the full setup, but I am highly optimistic about the adaptability of our talented performers.

Costuming is also in full swing this week, as we rock the house to find the best possible options for all our fabulous characters…and also bring the big snake to the opera office.  Lots of work to go on props as well. All signs point toward an amazing show

Newsletter & Facebook

We have mailed our newsletter, and I thought I would try to get that in hereSpring 2009 Newsletter I am getting much more adept at including files in the blog.  I am proud of myself, and hope that these additions are as beneficial to our readers/followers as they are fun to include.

This is Holy Week which means there are no rehearsals for the May program- since barely any of the singers would be able to come because of church gigs.  We hit the ground running again next week- with Stagin rehearsals Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun.  Quite exciting!
